A good day pottering in the garden, even manage to prize Mum from her chair indoors to a chair outdoors!well it's progress.
Fascinating to see all the insects appear from nowhere, though i am afraid the 4 lily beetle i found had a quick end.But hover flies, bees of various kinds and thousands(literally) ladybirds all around .........oh and an orange tip butterfly, and a burnet moth.Ain't Nature marvellous. Thanks God .
Now to start thinking about the Sunday Supplement Service on Sunday..............what's my theme?Plus have to do my report.my first as Minister at this church.Wow what an 8 month period that has been!

It was wonderful to celebrate with Elaine on the day of her ordination and to see her in her rightful place as Assistant Minister of Elstow. She beamed from ear to ear and it was a terrific turnout of folk wanting to wish her well.
We Pray that her Ministry will be a fruitful one and bring more folk to Christ,I know that she will be terrific.

We are a Congregational church and as such we should be governed by the Holy Spirit through the church meeting.
That cannot happen if people do not come to the meeting, decisions cannot be made for the whole fellowship if it is not there.
We cannot grow as a fellowship if we do not pray, talk and spend time together.
The Minister is not the person who should be running events ,making tea etc.The minsters job is to encourage, teach and care for the fellowship. They cannot do this if their time is spent keeping the social events going. They are important for bringing folk together but the Minister has other tasks.
The Minister cannot talk to people and find out how they are if he/she is stuck in the kitchen.
Time spent organising events is time out from visiting, preparing services  and being there for folk.
Tea making is not beneath the minister,it is just not effective building the family of God.
All the fellowship have gifts and talents which must be used to enrich the life of others, all must play their part in the organisation of events, services  and pastoral tasks.
I pray that the Spirit will lead our fellowship and bring others forward to take on tasks for the good of all,and to further our work in the villages we serve. With God's help all is possible.

We had a wonderful time on Sunday singing the hymns along to Aled Jones and York Minster...............sometimes we even finished together, though they cheated and cut out some verses, while Aled added a few more!
We were a selct few but the Spirit was with us and the singing was brilliant! especially with Sarah's clear almost boyish soprano voice,a complete contrast to me growling around in my boots.

Today, however, I am struggling to decided what to do first and consequently doing abit of this and a bit of that.I have managed to design a new letterhead and write a letter using it..though as usual i cannot get the envelope to print properly!
I am trying to write the service for Wednesday.............All Souls Day,and sort out my induction service which is difficult as i have left half the stuff i need at the church!!Anyway i can always continue tomorrow...............then there will be the mad dash to print the service out!!
