It's a special Sunday Supplement this week as Emily and Alex are taking it and telling you all about the work they have carried out as Doctors in Africa.
much better than listening to me!
So make sure you are all there to support them and to hear about their work.
Sadly i will not be able to be there as I am in Nottingham for my pastoral period weekend.........please pray for all the students and tutors as they try and discern God's call for them and their Ministry but also as they try to learn more about their faith.
Please also pray for Emily and Alex that God will bless the message they have for you all.
I am speaking to the ladies circle at Litlington today ,i hope and pray that our time together will be full of Blessings and lead to us working together more as churches.
Whereas we are showing signs of growth they are sadly literally dying out, so we need to see what we can do to bring new folk in,before it's too late.
Pray for the Spirit to move in that place and in the people of the village.
Off to the Eastern Area Assembly today and apparently the fear is that the weather will make the food tent collapse! So everyone pray it doesn't!
Looking forward to learning more about congregational history and having fellowship with other churches.
Thinking also of the folk in Scotland who are also having their assembly today.
May the Spirit move us to greater things in God's Glory
I enjoyed leading the Communion srevice at Roxton this evening, once again the meditations heped to focus peoples thoughts.Quite a good turn out.I do pray they manage to find some youngsters there before it's too late.New material, new focus is needed.
It was wonderful to celebrate with Elaine on the day of her ordination and to see her in her rightful place as Assistant Minister of Elstow. She beamed from ear to ear and it was a terrific turnout of folk wanting to wish her well.
We Pray that her Ministry will be a fruitful one and bring more folk to Christ,I know that she will be terrific.
We are a Congregational church and as such we should be governed by the Holy Spirit through the church meeting.
That cannot happen if people do not come to the meeting, decisions cannot be made for the whole fellowship if it is not there.
We cannot grow as a fellowship if we do not pray, talk and spend time together.
The Minister is not the person who should be running events ,making tea etc.The minsters job is to encourage, teach and care for the fellowship. They cannot do this if their time is spent keeping the social events going. They are important for bringing folk together but the Minister has other tasks.
The Minister cannot talk to people and find out how they are if he/she is stuck in the kitchen.
Time spent organising events is time out from visiting, preparing services and being there for folk.
Tea making is not beneath the minister,it is just not effective building the family of God.
All the fellowship have gifts and talents which must be used to enrich the life of others, all must play their part in the organisation of events, services and pastoral tasks.
I pray that the Spirit will lead our fellowship and bring others forward to take on tasks for the good of all,and to further our work in the villages we serve. With God's help all is possible.
